DUVO Festive Campaign 2024
The Volunteering and Outreach team have concluded their annual Festive Food Drive campaign which ran through November 2024.
Staff and students have contributed food donations across campus, with the total collection weighing in at 1,181.47kg. Stockton campus, coordinated by Peri Anderson collected 217kg alone. Thank you to everyone that donated, and a special thank you to the 25 staff and student volunteers that weighed, checked and sorted the donations for delivery on 5th December.
Your generosity supported Trussell Trust (foodbank), Feeding Families and A Way Out. To put this achievement into context, this will allow the charities to make over 1,300 meals and weighs approximately the same as a mini cooper!
Running alongside the Festive Food Drive, the Volunteering Team also supported charities with their Christmas crafts and gift making. DU staff and student volunteers helped make 1,300 bags of reindeer dust and 1,700 festive lollipops. These have been distributed to the following charities:
St Cuthbert’s Hospice |
Tiny Lives Trust |
Willow Burn Hospice |
St Oswald’s Hospice |
Pittington Community Association |

Durham Gilesgate Primary School PTFA |

Once again, we thank you all for your support. Without the dedicated volunteers at DU this would not be possible.
