Celebrating Collaboration… for 35 years!
Launch of 35 Years of Volunteering at Durham University
We have commenced our 35 years of volunteering campaign with a celebration of the community partnerships we have established in recent years.
Our Celebrating Collaboration event took place after the Volunteering Fair in the Palatine Centre on Wednesday 17th January 2024.
The event to focus was to launch the Volunteering and Outreach department strategy, get feedback from our partner charities and organizations to find out what we do well and what we can do better as a department and university.
Stacy Porter, Volunteering and Community Outreach Co-ordinator was thrilled with the outcome of the event, she said “our Celebrating Collaboration event was a nice opportunity to hear constructive feedback on the 2023-28 strategy, this enables us to make sure that focus is on community needs and understand how we can best serve these as a university as always our volunteers play a fundamental role in this”.
Organisations like Seascapes, Kynren, Beamish, Auckland Youth and Community Centre, Durham Wildlife Trust and Durham Community Action attended the events and provided feedback that is detrimental in shaping the future of volunteering and how we work in the community. If you collaborate with any community organisations that you think would benefit from these opportunities, please let us know.
On behalf of the department Stacy expressed the “excitement for the next couple of months, especially leading into our 35 years celebration”.
Past and present volunteer testimonies are available to view on our Instagram and will be published every Thursday this year.
