That purpose has guided us since 1989 and shapes everything we do.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\t\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our work is underpinned by five priorities:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cultivate an understanding of the value of volunteering &#8211; helping everyone recognise what it genuinely offers, to communities and to themselves.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Break down barriers to participation &#8211; making volunteering accessible to every student and member of staff at Durham.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understand our impact and community need &#8211; listening to the people we serve and letting that shape our offer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Raise the profile of volunteering &#8211; championing it across the university and beyond.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support volunteer development &#8211; giving volunteers the tools to reflect on how their experience shapes their growth and wellbeing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At Durham, volunteering touches every corner of university life &#8211; through DUSVO&#8217;s 25 student-led projects, college outreach, degree programmes, sports teams and staff volunteering.
